Job Description

Trillium College is seeking part-time/occasional staff to support the Training Location
Paragon testing centers in St. Catharines. All roles require a clear criminal record
check. Brief Job Descriptions are below.

Education requirements:

  • Fluency in speaking, listening to, reading, and writing English
  • Minimum of 2 years post-secondary education or equivalent work experience
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge

Compensation for the positions will vary from approx. $18-$22 an hour depending on
the role.

Invigilator Role & Responsibilities

CELPIP Test Centre Invigilator helps with test day check-in and oversees test
The Invigilator’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Assisting with preparation and general maintenance of the testing area and
    immediate premises.
  • Assisting with test taker check-in; e.g., observing the removal and storage of
    personal belongings.
  • Verifying identity and reviewing identification documents of test takers.
  • Escorting test takers to and from their workstations on arrival, departure, or
    washroom breaks.
  • Guiding test takers through a microphone check as they are seated.
  • Identifying technical errors and assisting test takers with basic hardware- or
    software-related issues.
  • Responding to test taker queries without betraying correct answers or how to
    score well.
  • Enforcing Paragon’s test day rules, monitoring, reporting, and addressing test
    taker misconduct.
  • Collecting and storing test-related materials at the end of the test session.
  • Being vigilant throughout the test sittings and ensuring Paragon’s test delivery and
    security policies are upheld.

Technician Role & Responsibilities

CELPIP Test Centre Technician manages the technical aspects of delivering the test
under the supervision of the supervisor on test day; reports to the Test Centre
The Technician’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

  • Being knowledgeable about and experienced with the operation of the test centre
    computer network setup, firewall settings, and workstations.
  • Ensuring all computers, network, and equipment are working properly.
  • Being able to operate the test delivery software and approved hardware, and to
    understand the technical components of test delivery
