Organization: Michael’s Carpet & Flooring

Position: Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Associate

Position Location: 3770 Montrose Rd., Unit #7, Niagara Falls, ON L2H 3K3

Position Reports To:  Operations Supervisor

Hours of Work: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday. Evenings, weekends, and some overtime hours may be required to accommodate business demands and position requirements.

Overview: Michael’s Flooring is looking for a hard-working Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Associate. The ideal candidate is hard-working, organized and detail oriented. They should be able to keep inventory records and keep track of incoming and outgoing stock to ensure inventory levels remain steady.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Warehouse Shipping and Receiving Associate is be responsible for receiving, labeling, and storing incoming shipments, assessing stock for damages, keeping a concise record of inventory, and accurately filling customer orders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Record, track and monitor all inventory according to company internal procedures
  • Organize and maintain inventory on warehouse floor
  • Receive, process, label, and store incoming stock
  • Inspect all stock for damages and keep records of damages
  • Communicate damaged, missing, or incorrect product immediately to the Office Administrator
  • Ensure the quantity of goods ordered/received is correct
  • Prepare materials for job orders in preparation for installer pick up
  • Record exact arrival and departure times for job orders
  • Operate stock management tools; for example, a forklift, tow motor etc.
  • Load and unload goods from trucks, unpack product daily
  • Ensure area is secure at all time
  • Perform cleaning/maintenance duties as directed by owners, Operations Supervisor and/or Office Administrator
  • Perform cycle counts and year-end inventory counts
  • Tactfully communicate with Installers, Customers and Delivery Drivers
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma preferred and clean driving record
  • G License
  • A forklift driver’s certification
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a warehouse, preferable in a flooring environment
  • Experience with inventory software
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

No worker shall remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by his or her employer, without providing adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately; use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.  A worker is not required to participate in a prescribed medical surveillance program unless the worker consents to do so.
